The curve "Current Climate Policy" shows the expected development of the average Carbon Footprint based on the policy measures adopted in Germany (as of 1 January 2025).

The curve "My Climate Policy" shows how the average Carbon Footprint would develop if your chosen measures were implemented.

"My Climate Policy" shows how the average Carbon Footprint would develop if your chosen measures were implemented.

The legally established climate protection goals in Germany are only available as absolute emission values and not as per capita targets. In addition, imports are not taken into account. The target values shown here are therefore adjusted target values based on assumptions about the population size and the climate footprint of future imports. This makes it possible to compare them with the calculated personal carbon footprint.

The development of your personal Carbon Footprint will (probably) deviate from the average course. It depends not only on political, but also on personal framework conditions and decisions. Try out how you could change your Carbon Footprint with our "My Carbon Footprint" tool.

The scientific basis is the projection reports of the Federal Government and selected scenarios from the RESCUE study by the Umweltbundesamt (German Environment Agency).
