Step 1 from 8

Electricity purchase

In addition to direct greenhouse gas emissions from electricity production, the Carbon Calculator also takes into account emissions from the extraction of fuels and raw materials as well as transport losses. The values for the regular electricity plan and green electricity are based on average values for the whole of Germany. Regional values generally deviate from this. However, regional values are only meaningful to a limited extent, as electricity is exchanged to a large extent throughout Germany and Europe.

You can recognise green electricity by the corresponding labels such as the green electricity label or the ok-power label.
kWh/year
You can find the annual consumption of the electricity you have purchased on the annual statement from your electricity supplier. If you do not have this at hand, you can also use our estimation tool directly here.
Do you have your own wallbox? Then add its annual consumption here if it is not already included in your household electricity bill.
kWh/year

This figure is estimated based on your living space and the number of people in your household. This estimated figure does not take into account consumption for electric heating or charging an electric car. Nor does it take into account any electricity you generate yourself, for example via a solar panel system.

Do you have a heat pump and/or your own wallbox? If so, please add their annual consumption here if you know the figure and it has not already been included under ‘Household electricity’. Only externally sourced electricity is recorded here. You can enter self-generated electricity from solar or wind power separately below.

Electricity from your own generation, which you consume directly, reduces your need for purchased electricity and thus also your CO2 emissions.

The manufacturer's emissions from your system (indirect emissions) are allocated to the kilowatt hour of electricity and attributed to you according to the amount of electricity you consume.

Environmentally friendly electricity that you feed into the public grid reduces the CO2 emissions of the general public. This is therefore credited to you in the handprint (Carbon Handprint2 emissions), the emissions from the production of the system are already taken into account here.
